Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process in which one optimizes a website for preferred placement within the search engine results pages (SERPs) for specific keyword terms that a user would search for on a search engine (such as Google, Bing, Yahoo!).
There is a lot that goes into SEO—from tactics in navigation, programming and content development when building a website, to link building (both paid and non-paid), content marketing and social media strategies.
SEO is an important aspect to building a website, but can be employed at a later date or to an already existing site. SEO takes research (keyword term, competitive and industry-based research), understanding of the top directories and search engines, website development knowledge to alter programming and best edit content on a site to reach goals.
An important consideration is that one cannot necessarily target all desired keyword terms, nor should you. Only the most relevant and highly searched terms should be the target for SEO. One does not want to keyword stuff their site in order to rank for all the possible relevant terms available and often choices need to be made depending on the level of searches.
Performing SEO maintenance for your site is equally as important as developing and implementing the initial SEO strategy in order to remain in a preferred position within the search engine results pages. This consists of content updates, changes to the site in response to search engine policy and process changes, competitive pressures and changes in the online landscape.
I offer SEO services during website development, after development, as well as maintenance support.
